- The painting shows a human skeleton in the desert. The desert represents peace, a break from the world, the skeleton represents a new beginning, a time when a person is rebuilt from the ground up. In the desert, he finds what he was looking for, two pomegranates with a lock, which are symbols of fertility, abundance and represent the tools that will help him find himself again and live.
